TripAdvisor has named Llandudno as the best seaside resort in the UK and the fourth best destination in the UK. It was announced as a part of the annual Travellers’ Choice Awards for destinations.
Llandudno has beaten the likes of Blackpool and Torquay to take the number one spot.
A spokesman for TripAdvisor said “The destinations best rated by travellers are often those that marry value with great experiences, so it is easy to see why Llandudno – where the average room rate bookable on TripAdvisor is almost half the price of London– has performed so well this year.”
Award winners are chosen through the use of the TripAdvisor algorithm that combines the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings for the hotels, restaurants and attractions throughout the world. The algorithm calculates the score over a 12 month period which is then used to present the annual award winners. Visitor booking interest also plays a role in the calculation of a destination.
Attractions that were able to help seal the best seaside town in UK status for Llandudno include the Pier, Promenade and Great Orme.
The TripAdvisor reviews that have been left for Llandudno and its facilities, attractions and amenities are hugely positive, with many praising the natural scenery, views and range of activities.
Reviewing the Great Orme, John from Stoke-on-Trent, said: “Took a nice gentle stroll magnificent views look out for wildlife saw seals in one of the coves resting on the shingle. Church in the middle of the Orme worth a look lots of goats in and around the church grounds.”
Llandudno’s position of number 4 on the best destinations in UK list puts them just behind London, Edinburgh and Liverpool in what is an excellent achievement for the North Wales coastal town.
The town works hard year round to ensure that visitors have excellent experiences, at restaurants, hotels and attractions which is truly reflected in the positivity of reviews regarding Llandudno.
