Llanrwst is a great little town in Wales, and is well known for its amazing proximity to countless amazing experiences in the Snowdonia area. So many great hotels in Llanrwst offer unparalleled service to their guests, and the height of luxury as well. As you explore this amazing area and participate in thrill-seeking, high adrenaline white-knuckle nearby activities such as Zip World and Bounce Below.
Alternatively, if you’d like to slow things down, Llanrwst has a truly fascinating history in the form of many unique little features that certainly make the village worth a day or two’s exploration. Wales is such an interesting place. While it might seem that once you’ve seen one grassy knoll, you’ve seen them all – but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Llanrwst’s history makes it stand apart from other places to holiday, and it has a number of buildings within which are of historical importance. You might be surprised to learn that Llanrwst has a series of Almshouses at it’s heart, founded by Sir John Wynn in 1610. The Trustees of Sir John of Wynn restored the Almshouses and they stand proudly within Llanrwst – put to purpose again, this time as a very engaging museum which is open to you and your family.
Gwydir Chapel is certainly worth a look too. Attached to St Grwst’s Church, the chapel was constructed in the year 1633 from a design by the legendary Inigo Jones. On the floor of his chapel is the gigantic coffin of Prince Llywelyn ap Iorwerth who was the warlord King of Wales for over 48 years. Of further interest is the stone effigy of Hywel Coetmor.
But where’s the best place to stay in the village where old meets new so wonderfully? We’re huge fans of the Meadowsweet Hotel in Llanrwst; a renowned staple within this lovely little town. Whether you’re after boutique, individually styled rooms, the fusion of old welsh buildings and snappy, modern décor, or even great customer service, the Meadowsweet Hotel might be right up your street. In fact, it’s recently fought off competition from other hotels within the Snowdonia area to be ranked by TripAdvisor as the #1 Hotel in Llanrwst!
From a series of gorgeous, individually decorated rooms with gigantic and soft, comfortable beds, some really wonderful toiletries and soft, fluffy towels to their stunning restaurant Lle Hari, the Meadowsweet Hotel in Llanrwst has so much going for it.
