Taxes. They’re pretty annoying, and many of us happen to hate the fact that taxes exist. But, they’re a mandatory part of life and failing to adhere to paying them will put you and your business into a world of trouble which you will most likely be absolutely unprepared for. HMRC have unparalleled powers when it comes to making sure that they get back what is owed to the country, and have a variety of punitive measures which they can, and do employ in order to scrape back what is owed to the country.
Measures that have been employed by the HMRC within 2016 in order to get back monies owed vary in intensity.
The very worst cases have resulted in the HMRC taking individuals to court in order to force them to pay taxes owed back. Of course, this also includes any and all court fees which are incurred, as well as HMRC’s legal costs. If a court grants HMRC permission, they are then authorised to send bailiffs which can take and sell your belongings in order to cover your debt.
The bailiff’s charge, of course, comes from you.
Should you not have anything of worth (or anything left…) to take, the HMRC will take money directly from your earnings, or your bank account if appropriate. These deductions can go on for years. In 2016, the guidelines for which were that those who earn less than £30,000 a year can have £3000 deducted on an annual basis by the HMRC.
Should an individual not have any savings or employment to speak of, the HMRC can even cash an individual’s pension and use that if it is established that there is one to use.
It’s beyond terrifying to realise that you’ve made a mistake on your taxes which means that the HMRC are looking in your direction. But it should be noted that the aid of a chartered accountant in North Wales or further afield will mean that you have to pay absolutely no mind to taxes which are part and parcel of operating a business, as they will take care of them for you.
An accountant essentially knows the ins and outs of all manner of taxes, and with a good accountant on the case, you can be assured that you have a professional on your side which will make sure that everything is square and everything is proper.
