On July 10th 2015 you can celebrate one of the world’s favourite toys, by gathering all your teddy bears for the annual Teddy Bear Picnic Day. This takes place on the 10th of July each year and has done ever since 1988 and is widely celebrated across the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.
As part of the celebrations you can make your own bears through the organisation of a teddy bear party, gather all your furry friends for a sunny picnic outside and play lots of teddy bear related games.
Teddy Bear Picnic Day first started with the song which most of us know and love, ‘The Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ which was written by John Walter Bratton. When this was first produced, it was entirely an instrumental song. Although, due to its lively march music it became a huge hit and due to this popularity, in 1932 James Kennedy composed Teddy Bear Picnic’s expressive lyrics. This eventually made the song a children’s classic.
With picnic’s being a classic British pastime, a teddy bear picnic is a great day for children and families across the nation to get together with fun and games and a fantastic picnic spread.
The ultimate way to celebrate would be to make your own bears through a fantastic teddy bear party, outside on the grass with mini sandwiches and cakes for you and your furry best friends. You and your friends can make your own teddy bear, dress them in various outfits and even record your very own messages with available sound recorders.
