We’re more than aware that smoking harms nearly every organ of the body. It causes many diseases and not only reduces life expectancy, but the quality of this reduced lifespan. The government have spent millions on anti-smoking campaigns, and the general consensus with the youth of today is very much “why would I want to smoke?” But what about those of us that have smoked for a number of years, and didn’t have the deterrent in the first place? There are a number of ways in which to quit smoking. From sweet alternatives such as Chupa Chups Lollipops to both satisfy the desire to have something to do with our hands as well as providing a taste of something substantially better than burning nicotine, there are a number of things that can be tried to help you along the worst of withdrawal – without sinking a fortune into nicotine replacement therapy and still being hooked.
Chupa Chups Lollies
Our favourite way to quit. It may surprise you to learn that despite being primarily aimed toward children, Chupa Chups lollies have been used as a smoking cessation aid for years. In the 1980s, an anti-smoking campaign titled “Smoke Chupa Chups” was started. While it’s widely acknowledged that sweets and candies can help with initial smoking withdrawal, Chupa Chups are uniquely helpful in the fact that you have to use your hands to hold the stick. As such, both hands and mouth are occupied for your craving. Their delightful assortment of flavours (over 200!) will ensure that you don’t get bored along your quit.
You can get a great Chupa Chups deal directly from wholesale sweets provider thesweetpot.com for a rate that even beats supermarket prices – 100 lollies for £9.89, and even cheaper per lolly the more you order. Even better – free UK deliveries!
Look At Your Habits
Do you enjoy a cigarette with a drink? Perhaps it’s with a cup of tea in the morning? Or are they a must after a particularly large meal? Analysis and a plan is often a really good way to stay on track while quitting is at it’s hardest, in the first 2 weeks. Actively avoid what you consider an absolute must have a cigarette during. However, doing so might make you miserable – so it’s quite imperative that you replace it with other things such as sweets or even activities and foods you don’t associate smoking with. Does a cigarette taste a bit funny after brushing your teeth? Excellent. Look for fresh, minty things to snack on, so your brain is fooled into thinking it doesn’t want one because of the conflicting tastes. Analysis and a good plan are the start of any sort of commitment, so why should quitting smoking be anything different?
Have A Commitment
It goes without saying that you can only quit something if you want to. It doesn’t matter how many disgusting adverts the government will put on packets, how expensive they get, or even whether or not you wake up with a sore throat every morning. Quitting is hard, there’s no way around it, but keep something in mind and keep it to hand. Your reasons for quitting are important, and for those that truly feel that they don’t want to be a slave to this financial trap, the ever-growing threat of an early death, or even smelling like an ashtray, quitting will happen, regardless of the amount of bargaining the nicotine receptors in your brain will do, you can do this. Keep going, and don’t give in.
