Darker nights and cooler weather may be on the forecast, but there are still plenty of exciting events taking place around North Wales to keep families entertained this autumn.
Every Thursday this October, from 9am – 3pm, the Colwyn Bay Farmers Market will be hosted in the Bayview shopping centre car park. Stalls include homemade crafts and a wide range of local fresh fruit and vegetables.
On the 12th October, a Specialist Autumn walk will be taking place in Bodnant Gardens between 2pm – 3.30pm. Observe the colourful changing of the seasons through a professional guided tour of the gardens. A ‘Birds of Bodnant Garden’ guided walk will also taking be place later in the week on the 14th October (11am – 12.30pm). Prior booking is necessary for both events (01492 650 460).
An Autumn Crafts event will also be held in Bodnant Garden on October 24th (11am- 4pm). Guests are given the chance to learn more about the local wildlife, as well as create their own bats and creepy crawlies to take home!
For parents looking to keep their little ones entertained this month, an outdoor play scheme for young children aged 5+ will be hosted in Penrhyn Castle, Bangor. ‘Woodland Imps’ will entertain through imaginative activities – and a chance for tree climbing!
The event will take place in the woodland surrounding the castle between 10am – 4pm, on Monday 24th October and Friday, 28th October. Admission prices vary on depending on payment method, although the cheapest method is through cheque, which is priced at £20.
For fans of halloween and the paranormal, the Conwy Ghost Bus tours will be running from October 23rd to October 31st. This will include a spooky visit to the Llandrillo cemetery, with ‘Harry the Old Sea Captain’ guiding the way. Prices are £9 for children and £14 for adults. Student discount is also available.
Ty Mawr Wybrnant will be hosting a Halloween event on Friday, 28th October. Activities include apple bobbing, bug hunting and also a chance for children to construct homes for bats. This National Trust event takes place from 11am to 4pm, and general admission prices will apply.
For both children and adults, Penrhyn Castle will also be hosting an interactive theatrical performance. During the performance, titled ‘Twilight Tours: The Experiment’, guests are invited to join Doctor Mortise for a night of Victorian themed horror.
This event will run all week from October 24th to October 31st. Start times for this event vary, and guests are encouraged to phone staff at Penrhyn Castle for more details (01248 353 084).
Pumpkin carving and Halloween themed games will also be taking place between 11am and 4pm on the 29th October in Plas Mawr, Conwy. This is also a great chance to view the impressive historical building, situated in the centre of Conwy.
The Llandudno fireworks display will be returning this year on Saturday, November 5th at 7.30pm. As always, the admission for the event is free, however donations for local services will be accepted throughout the night. Visitors can view the display along Llandudno Pier.
For residents of Anglesey and the surrounding areas, Beaumaris will be hosting a Bonfire Night, which is expected to take place on the evening of November 5th. Admission for this event will be free.
