The nationally renowned BBC Proms will be taking place at Eirias Park, in Colwyn Bay. BBC Proms is famous for being a television broadcast of prestige, where the best orchestral musicians in the country perform some classic, and recently composed pieces for all to appreciate. The concert will take place on Saturday the 10th of September.
This is the first time it has taken place at Parc Eirias, this arena is sometimes used for Wales Rugby Matches, including Wales Under 20, with teams from Scotland, France and Italy having competed here.
BBC Proms is the world’s biggest Classical Music Festival, BBC Proms offers eight weeks of stellar music performances, forming a plethora of orchestras, conductors as well as soloist from all over the United Kingdom.
The festival’s aim is to create a period of music that enables the most fantastic and diverse musical odyssey.
Grammy award-winning Amy Wadge is one of the UK’s most prolific contemporary songwriters, her songwriting credits include Ed Sheeran whom she wrote Thinking Out Loud with, which went to number 1 in 2014
The event includes performances from Tom Hadley, with full orchestral backing. Also confirmed is Welsh tenor Wynne Evans. Wynne is not only a popular presenter on BBC Radio Wales, but also the star of the ‘Go Compare’ Adverts.
Also joining the linup is Sheku Kanneh-Mason, 17-year old cellist, and BBC Young Musician of the Year 2016.
The event is a production of BBC Wales in collaboration with Conwy County Borough, and is set to bring ahead a wonderful night to remember. It’s an intergrated part of the UK-wide celebration of ‘The Last Night of the Proms 2016. The event is widely regarded as a wonderful family occaision, the perfect excuse to bring a picnic. Colwyn Bay as a location is only about 20 minutes drive from llandudno’s seafront hotels.
