The festive season begins with a bang this year as Llandudno prepares for its annual Christmas parade that takes place on December 1st 2012.
Residents, school children and town dignitaries will all be getting into the festive spirit when they turn up to enjoy the beginning of Christmas together. This year’s parade is going to be headed by Mayor Myra Wigzell, Miss Alice for 2012: Nicole Thompson and Father Christmas himself. The main spearhead of the parade will be followed by the Llandudno Daffodil Queens and a parade of characters from the Nativity, as well as an Alice in Wonderland float.
Other parade figures include heroes from the silver screen, classic vehicles, an appearance from the Head boy and girl of Ysgol John Bright, therapy dogs and the City of Liverpool Pipes and Drums Band, who will be sure to add some fantastic music to give the parade a ‘carnival-like atmosphere’.
The parade will be beginning at 3pm, on 1st December 2012 from the Llandudno Town Hall, in what will mark the beginning of the Christmas period for the people of Llandudno. The band will perform along with pupils from local schools Ysgol John Bright and Ysgol Blessed William Davies. Reverend Neil Kirkham of Llandudno’s Gloddaeth United church will also be making an address to those present.
Llandudno Mayor Myra Wigzell said “It’s a superb parade that everybody from the area loves to come and watch. There is a huge variety in performers and parade items making for a very interesting and entertaining show for those involved and those coming along to watch”.
The parade will be the perfect ‘run-up’ event to Christmas in Llandudno. The parade takes a route in and around the town from Llandudno train station, travelling down Vaughan Street to Mostyn Street and then onto St George’s Place, The parade, back to Mostyn Street, Lloyd Street, Madoc Street, Augusta Street and back to Llandudno train station.
If you are a local, or happen to be in the area, this event is perfect for all of the family and promises to be great fun!
