Furthering on from recent reports on NorthWales.com about the Llandudno Hospital and the new Command Support Unit patrolling the region, positive news seems to be coming out of the health sector each day with today keeping up the brilliant trend.
Colwyn Bay is set to host a fantastic new health centre which will replace outdated GP surgeries in the resort town. The Rhoslan and Rysseldene surgeries are set to fall by the wayside but with such benefits touted for the new centre, it’s easy to see why changes are being made.
Its positives are plain to see right from the off with 18,00 more patients being administered care in the area with facilities able to assist many admissions. Diabetic sufferers will have the help they need, gynaecological services will improve and there’s set to be counselling sessions which will aid those with mental health problems.
There will be plenty else to shout about as well come the centre’s unveiling in April 2015. Mther and child clinics, antenatal clinics and extra counselling sections available to the locals and with it being so close to bus routes, also available to the general public.
The Welsh Government accepted the plans for funding of £238,000 needed for the construction which will begin in early 2014. The health minister Mark Drakeford was more than happy with the result when he said: “I am pleased the Welsh Government has been able to fund the development.
“The new centre will allow the expansion of existing services and will provide a better environment for patients and staff”, he continued. “The current surgeries do not allow for any growth and can restrict the services which are available there.”
Darren Milllar, Clwyd West AM, was similarly effusive about the plans which had often been delayed: “Patients in Colwyn Bay deserve to have access to modern primary care facilities which are fit for the 21st century and that is just what this project will provide.”
With this and much more to be positive about in North Wales’ health sector, the future looks very bright for the area as a whole.
