Inaugural meeting of the Quinton Hazell Enterprise Parc Business Forum

On the morning of Wednesday 12 December 2012 I had the opportunity to attend the inaugural meeting of the Quinton Hazell Enterprise Parc Business Forum.

The Forum has been established to provide a platform to assist, support and develop businesses within the area surrounding Mochdre. Many local business leaders supported the initiative by taking time out of their busy day.

The Morning began with Registration and informal networking – including tea, coffee, mints and mince pies.

Bob Blackwell, director of SiteQuest, kicked off the event, speaking about the importance of keeping money within the local economy and inter-trading when at all possible. He gave specific examples of how Sitequest has been able to practice this in its own day to day and key buying decisions. Bob has been involved with community projects and development work within the Mochdre area for many years.

Geraint Jones Coleg Llandrillo Businesspoint then shared his insights into successful approaches learned from his involvement with the Coleg Llandrillo Businesspoint Network. He also detailed the benefits of Business Point membership.

Trevor Rowlands from Conwy Business Centre explained what local authority funded support is available from the Centre to local business within the area.

The floor was then opened up to all, various contributions were made regarding the value of local inter-trading and how best to facilitate the knowledge of what businesses there are in the vicinity.

A draw was made for a meal for two at the Mountain View in Mochdre, the prize was won my Blackmarsh Garage.

The meeting finished with open networking and opportunities to enjoy more mince pies!

The Business Forum has been set up by local business for the benefit of local business and we would welcome additional members to join the steering group to ensure that there is continued development, growth and longevity for the Forum. The intention of the Forum is that it will be a two way process and one of the more important aspects will always be, ‘what we can do for each other’.
