One of the biggest mountain biking championships is set to grace North Wales in 2014, on the well renowned Antur Stiniog trails at Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd – along with other fantastic North Wales biking spots.
The first round of the event is set to take place here on March 29th and 30th next year. Rounds two and three are set to move to Scotland, before returning to North Wales for round four on June 28th and 29th in Llangollen and down the Bike Park Wales, Merthyr Tydfil for round five on September 14th.
Welcoming the news, Antur Stiniog’s Adrian Bradley said: “This site is proving extremely popular with mountain bikers. We have all the facilities – I know the organizer and we have raced against each other before. We held our own even which attracted around 1,000 spectators who came to see the races”.
There will have to be plenty of uplifts and minibuses to get the 350 competitors to the starting line at the top of the trail. There are four different high-standard trails at Antur Stiniog which have been subject to great acclaim. There are showers, places to wash down bikes and plenty of parking, along with camping facilities down of the fields of Blaenau rugby club.
For those that love mountain biking and everything that comes with it, it would be a real shame to miss out on this spectacular event on your doorstep in North Wales. Pencil the dates into your diary and make the most of the renowned competition and range of professional competitors.
