Mold Town Council was created in 1974 following the re-organisation of local government and the disbanding of Mold Urban District Council. It is one of 34 town and community councils in Flintshire.

Mold is the county town of Flintshire. Flintshire County Council became the unitary authority after a re-organisation of local government in Wales in 1996.

Mold has a population of 9,500 and for local government purposes the Town is divided into four electoral wards, Mold Broncoed, Mold East, Mold South and Mold West, with four town councillors representing each ward. The present councillors were elected in June 2008 to serve a four-year term of office.

The Council at its annual meeting, which is held in May each year, elects a Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor.

The Town Mayor receives an allowance to cover the costs involved in undertaking civic duties. No other councillors receive any payments.

Mold Town Council has monthly meetings that normally take place on the last Wednesday of each month. There are no meetings in August and December.

Members of the public are entitled to attend the monthly meetings of the Town Council which are normally held on the evening of the last Wednesday in each month. Dates of the meetings of the Council are shown on this website.

The agenda for each forthcoming meeting will be displayed on the notice board at the Town Hall, here on the Council’s website and in Mold Library. The Council hopes that as many members of the public as possible will take the opportunity to attend.

Mold residents are able to speak during a 15 minute session immediately before meetings of the Town Council. There will be a maximum of 5 minutes allowed per person or subject matter (if more than one person wishes to speak on one issue).

Anyone wishing to speak at the Council meeting must give an indication to the Clerk by 4.30pm on the Tuesday of the week prior to the meeting. Further details on this or any aspect of the Council’s business can be obtained from the office on the first floor of the Town Hall.
