June 22nd sees the great Trail marathon wales returning for its annual appearance across the country tracks of Coed y Brenin forest in Snowdonia national park. Attracting runners globally to take part in this mammoth challenge, renown in the running community. Starting out in 2011, and continuing on year after year, snowballing into the event that we have today, thanks to its continued success. The carefully planned course has a fully marked trail, and goes through woodlands and sweeping plains, rewarding your efforts with views of unmatched scenery.
The race has an entry fee of £30 for the full race and £23 for the half distance event, included with this is parking, a commemorative t-shirt, wooden coaster, a bag of goodies and even a flapjack!
The event utilises as many local suppliers and contractors as it can to try and support the local economy and community, and ensure that it has a positive effect on the welsh community.
The event is on a Saturday, so why not make a weekend out of it? There are a great number of bed and breakfasts, hotels and caravan parks in the surrounding area to stay in so you can have a lovely memorable trip off the back of this challenge.
The race is a qualifier for the welsh team of the world championship, who will compete in the world long distance mountain running championships all the way in Poland this august. A lot is to be gained from this race if you take it seriously!
