The TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice awards are upon us once more, and we’re thrilled to say that two Llandudno Hotels are proudly setting the standard for others, not just in Llandudno, or in North Wales, or even in the UK- but the entire world.
That’s right – two small hotels in Llandudno have fought off worldwide competition in order to be crowned the very best in their categories, on a worldwide scale – based on traveller reviews.
The Lawton Court Hotel managed to scoop the award for the Best Service in the World – beating hotels large and small in order to claim this much coveted top position.
Lawton Court’s owners, Scott and Hannah Lawton-Jones, explained how they felt. After winning this coveted award, Scott Lawton-Jones said: “It means everything winning the award. We work night and day, and we live on the premises.”
Lawton Court are no strangers to winning awards, with a number of TripAdvisor accolades under their belts including winning a number of awards within 2015 and 2016 – The best small hotel in the UK, Best Service in the UK, and best Bargain Hotel in the world. In 2016, they won the Best Service in the UK award – something that they have retained in 2017 and amazingly improved – being ranked the Best Service in the World for 2017.
Competition is stiff within the hospitality industry, and to win such an accolade for two years in a row is truly incredible, let alone being viewed the very best in all of the world – the standard for other hotels to strive toward.
The Elm Tree Hotel within Llandudno managed to scoop the prestigious Best Bargain Hotel in the World award, as well as the Best Bargain Hotel in Europe and the UK. With a reputation for excellence, the Elm Tree Hotel managed to improve from 2016’s 2nd Best Bargain Hotel in the World award; and attain World-Best status. This is absolutely incredible, and we feel it’s truly put the small, seaside town of Llandudno on the map.
The Elm Tree Hotel is owned by Tom and Carol Long, and when contacted, Tom explained the journey that the Elm Tree Hotel undertook to reach its World-Best status. He stated that: “Six years ago, the house was derelict and we spent a lot of money on it. We opened it up, and have gone from strength to strength.”
To think that The Elm Tree Hotel, only six years ago, was an eyesore on the Llandudno promenade is absolutely unthinkable when you see it today; this stunning hotel truly deserves every single one of its very many accolades. It truly is the best Bargain Hotel in the World, and that’s in no small part thanks to Carol and Tom’s endeavours.
The Elm Tree Hotel in Llandudno also achieved awards for the Best Small Hotel in the UK, The 3rd Best Small Hotel in Europe, and the 6th Best Small Hotel in the World.
We’re absolutely certain that if Llandudno is the Queen of Welsh resorts, these two hotels are the crown jewels of the town. To beat thousands of more established and expensive hotels within the world is no mean feat; and we feel that Lawton Court and the Elm Tree Hotel set the standard that hotels around the world, no matter the budget, and no matter the size, should follow.
