Two weeks worth of rain could fall in a single day in areas of Britain, according to weather forecasters – with Wales and the south west of England likely to be hit with the worst of it. It is expected that up to an inch on rain could thrash down across these areas of Britain.
Matt Dobson, a forecaster for MeteoGroup said: “There is a lot of rain on the way, with much of it affecting Devon, Cornwall and the South West, up across Wales with up to an inch of rain”.
“It is a lot for a single day, as a typical place in Britain would see around two inches of rain in a whole month – and there will be areas seeing that in just a day”.
Optimistically, looking forward towards the summer is looking a little more settled than last year, with less rain predicted. Matt Dobson added ” Although long range weather forecasts do not always work, there are early signs of much more settled weather towards the end of May and on-wards after that”.
While the last few weeks have been relatively dry, rain is expected to last a couple of days. However, there are no flood warnings in force as of yet on any Welsh rivers.
